Badgers Running Wild Invade The Garden for the 2013 Art in the Park Celebration

Michael Kuehne's sixth grade art students, inspired by Jackson Pollock, created "Badgers Running Wild" and exhibited then at the Lampasas Association for the Arts 2013 Art in the Park Celebration.  For one day only, April 27, 2013, we had badgers doing just about everything imaginable

.

Here you see some of the colorful creations just hanging around.

These Badgers are ready to "hit the town" in top hat and fancy dress.

This one came with his own music.

For the past two years people visiting LAFTA's Art in the Park have been able to enjoy Mr. Kuehne's sixth grade art students.  This exhibit enhances our event with the creativity of the students and delights those attending.  LAFTA looks forward to next years invasion.

Spirit sign by local pharmacy.
Lampasas High School spirit clubs made signs to let everyone know the seventh annual Art in the Park event was taking place at the Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden, Saturday, April 28, 2012.  Hundreds of people showed up from all over Texas to see the new arrivals to The Garden and just have a good time listening to music, shopping with a variety of vendors, visiting with the new artists, and in general enjoying what this park has to offer.
Crowd of people with LHS Jaz Band.
The children attending had an especially rewarding time with the variety of free activities.   Family Medicine Clinic provided, at no charge, bicycle helmets.  Tables were set up with on -hand art activities.  Artists Nancy Gray and Larry Hullum were allowing children to participate in some limestone carving.

The Lucky Ranch Grill  set up cooking at the Garden.  If you did not attend, you missed out on some excellent food.  Pillar Bluff Vineyards, Texas Legato and Fiesta Winery, three local vineyards, were offering tasting samples and product to sell.

Four new sculptures were installed this year.  Artist Bob Ragan brought "Lemon Squeezer", artist Dan Pogue brought "La Fiesta", artist Reven M. Swanson brought "Rolling Dancing Moon II", artist Rebecca Low brought "Unbundled", and artist Eliseo made an encore presentation with "Eternal Love".  Mr. Kuehne's 6th Grade Art Class had a one day only presentation of "Radioactive Badgers".  Inspired by "Radioactive Cats" by artist Sandy Skoglund, the students created bright neon green paper mache badgers doing all kinds of things.

Radioactive Badgers Invade The Garden

LAFTA User - Monday, April 30, 2012

Saturday, April 28, 2012, Radioactive Badgers invaded the Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden at Campbell Park , as part of the seventh annual celebration of Art in the Park.  All of the Badgers were created by Lampasas Middle School 6th Grade Art students, instructed by Michael Kuehne.  They were constructed out of paper mache and painted a brilliant neon green.  The Garden had Badgers doing every conceivable thing!  Mr Kuehne and his students found their inspiration in a 1980 piece by artist Sandy Skoglund called  "Radioactive Cats".  You can find out more about the work and it's artist at www.sandyskoglund.com.
